According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a clemency request for consideration by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Alleged at Correctional Facility

House Democrats on the judicial oversight panel revealed that a whistleblower provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the minimum-security facility in Texas.

Representative Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, stated in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting the convict with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

Specific details of the clemency request are unknown, the congressman noted.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been receiving “customized” meals that are hand-delivered to her living area, and the warden has individually organized private meetings for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings reportedly involve a “special cordoned-off area” for visitors and a variety of food and drinks for her associates.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which Raskin described as an exceptional measure given the security risk and potential for unmonitored communications.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, Maxwell was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how personnel would connect the communication to her.

Supervisor Acting as Assistant

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when the convict wanted to examine and modify papers promptly, she “essentially used” the official as her private aide.

The news release states that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the supervisor, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and return them to the official to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges reportedly provided to her include time to “play with” a service dog puppy – a benefit typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the facility's gym.

Maxwell’s attorney has not yet replied to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the White House said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson noted.

Recent Background

Over the weekend, it was reported that Maxwell told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the Texas facility than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was transferred from a low-security prison in Tallahassee, Florida to the minimum-security camp in the state, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

This move, which authorities called as exceptional, occurred just shortly following she was interviewed about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, who also once acted as Donald Trump's personal lawyer.

This questioning came as the Trump administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to the President, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and called on the president to reject the clemency appeal.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” the representative stated in the document. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents attending to her requests, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that the official appear for a public congressional hearing to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to the President.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had instructed Blanche or anyone else to arrange her with the transfer or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, relatives or representatives have made any promises to Trump or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a reply to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the nation's highest court rejected an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
